Parents as Learning Coaches (Run 1 – 7 & 8 Mar 2019)

Do you find your children’s learning attention span short? Are their thoughts constantly wandering off? This two-session workshop aims to help parents identify your children’s strengths, types of intelligences and learning styles to maximise learning. Parents will learn and acquire the necessary skills that provide a more in-depth help in growing their children’s love for learning.
Using experiential activities, small group discussions, demonstrations, case studies and personal reflection, parents will also explore creating a conducive home environment for learning and working in partnership with the school and the community.
Key Areas Covered:
Parents will learn
- To understand multiple intelligences
- What is difficult for their children in learning
- Possible reasons for their children’s difficulties
- How children cope when faced with difficulties in their learning
- What are the needs of their children
- How to be realistic about their expectations of their children
- To understand their own needs
- How to render emotional support
- Ways that they can manage their own emotions like anxiety and frustrations
- Identifying their children’s strengths; types of intelligence; learning styles; and how they can use these to maximise learning
- How to create a conducive home environment for learning
- How to work in partnership with schools and community resources
- How they can transfer a joy for learning in their children

2 sessions of 4 hours each
