Training & Workshops

Morning Star Community Services offers evidence-based parenting workshops which aim to empower families, by offering them practical skills and knowledge to strengthen family relationships.

Approved and subsidised by the Ministry of Social of Family Development (MSF), we currently run 8 skills-based in-house workshops for the public.

741 workshops & 14094 attendees since 2013

We also plan family fun days for families to bond with each another by spending precious time exploring and discovering what are important for their families.

Through combined parent-child activities such as canvas shoe painting, making sun-catchers, kite-flying and lantern-making at various venues in the national parks, gardens, reservoirs or at indoor venues, families are given golden opportunities to bond and apply what they have learnt to attune to each other’s social and emotional needs.

*Available for interested groups and organisations only.

Benefits

Through our workshops, we also facilitate learning for children by providing them with knowledge and skills. These are the three distinct domains of development for adolescent character formation:

  1. Social/Emotional: instilling self-awareness and self-management, interpersonal skills and positive life skills and character strengths
  2. Character: instilling and strengthening core moral virtues and moral character strengths
  3. The Pursuit of Learning: instilling education beliefs and attitudes, developing learner-related character strengths and cognitive skills.

Testimonials

“I was encouraged by the trainer to observe one of my son’s good behaviours and to give him an effective praise as I did not praise him before. After my first praise, I could see that he was happy and he would try to behave from then on. He wanted my approval and he would wait for me to praise him.”

Common Sense Parenting

“After attending the workshop, I understood the importance of co-planning and I asked my girl to join me in planning her schedule together. She would now make an effort to try to complete her tasks within the scheduled time. She wanted to show me that she had grown up and she was responsible.”

Structuring Your Child’s Time

“I didn’t know that I had been using those poisonous words that affected my child’s emotions. Now, I try to avoid those words and my child is more open to share her feelings with me.”
