Encouraging Positive Behaviour

Synopsis:

Children’s behaviour can delight, stun, confuse, frustrate or even anger you. When a child behaves in challenging ways, it is good to have a range of behaviour management options.

Course Objectives:

Participants will be able to

• identify and address problem behaviours without sacrificing the dignity of the children
• identify meaningful positive and negative consequences and how to use them with maximum benefit
• catch children doing right to promote positive behaviours

Key areas covered:

• Observing and describing behaviours
• Giving Effective Praise
• Using child-oriented reasons for greater buy-in
• Understanding why children misbehave
• Handling children with various learning difficulties and behaviour issues (eg disruptive and rude behaviour)

Duration:

1 session of 4hr
