Josephine is the Senior Training and Workshops Manager at Morning Star. She has been in the teaching and helping profession since 1993. Guiding and supporting the children to fulfill their potential drives Josephine to explore varied ways to motivate, raise their self-esteem and confidence. She has worked together with many educators in schools, caregivers and parents to enrich their understanding of children, the causes of their difficult behaviours and how to overcome these challenges.
She has a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Nanyang Technological University. She updates and hones her skills through continuous professional development in evidence-based programmes to better support the families she works with. She was in the pioneer group of trainers in Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme), spearheaded by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), conducting the Level 2, 3 and 4 interventions in primary and secondary schools since 2014.
Josephine conducted runs in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) delivering Signposts for Building Better Behaviour for the parents of children with diagnosed needs. From 2017 till present, Josephine has been organising the Group Leaders Training for The Incredible Years® (IY) Parent programmes and the Small Group Dinosaur programme for the children, hosted by Morning Star Community Services Ltd. The training runs were well attended by social service professionals and they brought back invaluable training to their beneficiaries. Together with her group of trained IY group leaders, Josephine has been conducting a number of well-received public runs of IY parent programmes, gaining referrals from NUH and IMH specialists.
Some programmes developed by Josephine are Peep! Peep! Time Out! to equip parents with skills to coach their children to self-regulate; Coaching Social and Emotion skills through Play, specifically for parents and caregivers of young children; Volunteering with A Difference, to equip volunteers with child management skills; Values for Life, a character development and parent-child bonding programme for parents of children to explore their unique family values together in a fun manner; and Child Psychology, for volunteers and caregivers to understand the developmental patterns and needs of children.

Shaun is an accredited Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) practitioner with Morning Star Community Services. He has been in the helping profession since 2012. As a Triple P practitioner, Shaun conducted sessions with parents and caregivers of primary school as well as secondary school age children. Besides parents, he had also conducted training sessions for social service professionals and volunteers in non-profit organisations and government agencies.
Providing social work, counselling and case work services to guide children, youths and families to explore various resources, Shaun journeyed with the families to support them to achieve their goals. As a counsellor in a Family Service Centre, Shaun worked with families and individuals to manage a wide range of issues which can include financial, mental health, grief and suicide prevention issues. At a drop-in centre, he guided youths and children with their wellness and mental health issues.
Shaun developed a therapy programme for residents with mental health issues in a Residential Home setting and also managed the Quality of Life programme there which was well received.
He has a Master degree in Professional Counselling from Swinburne University of Technology and continues to update and hone his counselling skills via professional development programmes to better support clients in their therapeutic journey. Prior experience from different settings in counselling, social work and casework help to give him a wider perspective in his profession.

Ahmad Taufiq is a compassionate, committed and inspirational speaker. Rebecca has been an MOE Teacher for more than 27 years. Besides classroom teaching, she had also undertaken the responsibilities of a Teacher Counsellor and a School Chaplain. She has undergone training in MOE’s pastoral care and sexuality programmes and has counselled and touched the hearts of many students throughout the years. During her tenure, she has received the Caring Teacher award from National Institute of Education. Rebecca is equally adept in incorporating large or small group learning for students, having been trained in the areas of strategies for English Language learning and reading, as well as in learning support. In this line of work, she has developed Individual Educational Plans for students and supported both parents and teachers alike.
As a certified Parent Educator, she has conducted well-received workshops for parents and teachers on how to support and engage their children and students in their learning. In addition, she has run programmes for children and parents in the areas of managing transitions in family relationships as a Certified Director for the Rainbows programme catering to single-parent families, healthy sexuality, managing misbehaviours and parent-child communication.
Apart from conducting various types of parenting programmes, Rebecca also conducts work-life balance and marital seminars, allowing her to impart her skills and knowledge needed to sustain and succeed in life and family relationships. Rebecca’s wealth of experience has proven beneficial to participants of all levels.
Rebecca is a mother of six children aged from 11 to 24 years and her family story of celebrating a large family has appeared in “Celebrating Family: 101 Stories on Love and Inspiration”, a book published by the National Family Council. Her family has also been featured in ‘Spring’ magazine (Sep/ Oct 2004) a publication by North East CDC, Morning Star 10th Anniversary magazine (2010), ‘Mother & Baby’ magazine (Sep 2010), SAFRA e-magazine (Jun 2012), and ‘Simply Her’ magazine (Jun 2012).
Being an accredited Triple P practitioner, Rebecca had conducted Levels 2 and 3 in both primary and secondary schools under the pilot programme in 2014. Having raised 6 children enabled her to relate her parenting experience with her participants who found her sharing useful and practical.

Samuel provided counselling & intervention for community cases as well as within the Enhanced Step-Up Programme (ESU) managed by MOE & MSF. He had overseen case management and subsidy administration for at-risk families by connecting them with community resources, government ministries, statutory boards and various social enterprises.
Samuel is a mid-career professional with ten years of experience in Information Technology and five years in the field of child development and mental health. In his previous line of work, he was an IT network engineer and administrator supporting commercial, banking and trading services. After completing his degree in psychology, Samuel joined the education sector as a special needs teacher supporting children with mild intellectual disabilities.
As a form teacher for a class of 15-20 special needs children, his responsibilities included: crafting and implementation of Individual Education Plans, Parent liaising and skills coaching, creation of needs-specific resources, formulation of subject curriculum and assessments, and the day-to-day child management of his students.
Additionally, due to his previous work experience, Samuel was also designated as the school’s IT coordinator. In collaboration with IAC (Infocomm Accessibility Centre), he conceptualised and implemented a new IT curriculum for the upper primary and secondary levels.
In his role as a counsellor today, Samuel works primarily with school (primary and secondary) children and their parents. He helps each child and family address their concerns through parent coaching and individual counselling sessions focused on the following areas: work habits & routines, behaviours & self-regulation, emotions and esteem, family dynamics and communication.

Siti has a Bachelor Degree Counselling awarded by the SIM University and Diplomas in Counselling & Family Education and Production Engineering. She has been in the Family Life Education profession for the last eight years and is currently a freelance Resource Trainer.
As a resource trainer, she worked closely with numerous parents, coaching and supporting them in their parenting journey with their children. The parents benefited from her guidance and went on to build closer relationships with their children. She has also planned and held many family bonding events to encourage families to foster closer ties among one another.
A passionate Family Life Educator, Siti has been conducting coffee talks in schools and community such as ‘Understanding PIES’, ‘Good enough Parenting’, ‘Basics of Communication’, ‘5 Love Languages’ and ‘Love Them Talk About Sex’ in both English and Malay. Apart from having experience running a kids-at-risk programme called ‘Sunshine Clubhouse’ in a primary school, she is also a Befriender-Trainer for a home-based family life education programme for low income family.
Siti has been a trainer for Muslim Marriage Preparatory Programme for the past eight years and had conducted sessions at libraries, mosques and education centres in both English and Malay. She also had more than a year experience in training inmates for pre-release ‘Mindset Change’ Programme.
Siti has been happily married for 22 years and is a mother of two teenage children. She is passionate about family life and is a strong advocate for quality family life.
Her prior experience as an Assistant Engineer is also instrumental in assisting parents to manage work-life harmony. She and her husband are also actively involved as community volunteers.

Steven is trained as a Counsellor and a Family Life Educator. He holds a Master of Social Science in Counseling from University of South Australia, and a Graduate Certificate in Parent Education Leadership Training (PELT) from Swinburne University, Australia. He is also a Registered Counsellor with Singapore Association for Counselling.
Steven has conducted family life talks for over 20 years. He is a highly experienced and well sought-after speaker in schools and in organizations, and connects well with parents with his sincere, interactive and engaging style. Steven has lectured part-time for the Diploma in Counselling Skills for Edith Cowan University and also conducted Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) courses in Student Care.
Steven excels in many areas of sports and is a fun-loving family man who also enjoys conducting children programmes and parent-child bonding workshops. Steven is a certified trainer for “Good Enough Parenting”, “I Choose Us” marriage programmes, and Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme), among others.
Steven is happily married for over two decades. He and his wife have two young adult children. They work closely as a couple, and are passionate about building strong and resilient families.
