Synopsis:
An effective classroom management context requires 4 fundamental factors –
- Know what you want and what you don’t want
- Show and tell your students what you want,
- When you get what you want, acknowledge it,
- When you get something else, act quickly and appropriately.
Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to
- engage and involve children on tasks
- keep the flow of events moving smoothly and minimise downtime, delays and distractions
- how to get the most out of study space
- time events and regulate schedules for productive learning time
- give clear and simple instructions
Key areas covered:
- Securing children’s attention and getting participation from children
- Establishing ground rules and routines
- Ideas for ice breaker games
- Setting an incentive system
- Giving affirmation
- Maintaining momentum in lessons
- Matching space to instruction, ownership and privacy
- Time allocation and efficiency
- Clarity of instructions
