Case Management Services
Information and Referral Service
Individuals and families in need are assessed by Social Workers and are referred to the appropriate agencies for the required assistance. In our work with inmates' families, volunteers and staff actively reach out to them so that those in need are identified early. This is essential so that these families can cope better with the harsh impact of incarceration and prevent further problems from occurring.
While families are often concerned about the basic needs for food and financial support, Social Workers work deeper with them to highlight other possible needs. These include: child care needs if the mother goes to work, guidance to teenagers, healthcare needs of the elderly, emotional well-being of all families members.
Case Management Services
Case Management Services are extended to:
- Inmates' Families
- Families with children at risk
- Families with teenagers at risk
- Families with children or teenagers who have learning difficulties
- Families with multiple problems and needs
Once families needing CMS are identified, Social Workers conduct in-depth assessment of the problems and guide them in setting realistic goals for themselves. Apart from linking them to agencies for the necessary services, Social Workers co-ordinate with these agencies to ensure that the help is effective and relevant. They also coach families with the knowledge and skills in making informed choices, in problem solving and in relating with one another.
Social Workers also link these families to volunteers who can serve as mentors to them. Through these services, Morning Star aims to enable these individuals and families who are faced with challenging situations to be able to live their lives meaningfully and independently in the community.
