Parents as Learning Coaches (March)

(“Coaching is 90% attitude and 10% technique.”)

 

Do you find your children’s learning attention span short? Are their thoughts constantly wandering off? This two-session workshop aims to help parents identify your children’s strengths, types of intelligences and learning styles to maximise learning. Parents will learn and acquire the necessary skills that provide a more in-depth help in growing their children’s love for learning.

 

Using experiential activities, small group discussions, demonstrations, case studies and personal reflection, parents will also explore creating a conducive home environment for learning and working in partnership with the school and the community.

 

Key Areas Covered:

Parents will learn

  • To understand multiple intelligences
  • What is difficult for their children in learning
  • Possible reasons for their children’s difficulties
  • How children cope when faced with difficulties in their learning
  • What are the needs of their children
  • How to be realistic about their expectations of their children
  • To understand their own needs
  • How to render emotional support
  • Ways that they can manage their own emotions like anxiety and frustrations
  • Identifying their children’s strengths; types of intelligence; learning styles; and how they can use these to maximise learning
  • How to create a conducive home environment for learning
  • How to work in partnership with schools and community resources
  • How they can transfer a joy for learning in their children

               

Duration:

2 sessions of 4 hours each
