Ignite that positive change in the family!
Parenting today is far more difficult than it was, even a generation ago. Many well-intentioned parents are using outdated and ineffective parenting styles. As a result, they experience daily frustration and stress in their home. Find out from our workshops how to drop that cane and discover a practical approach to manage your child’s behaviours that doesn’t damage the parent-child relationship. In addition, explore how your child learns best and create a conducive home environment as his/her learning coach. Join us in enhancing your parenting skills today!
“The workshop has provided me with a great tool in keeping cool and staying calm. By staying calm, I am now able to handle situations better. It is now also easier for me to communicate with my children. Through the use of consequences, they learn to take responsibility for their own actions.”
- Mrs. Maria Yang, parent of 3 daughters from CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School on the six-session Common Sense Parenting Workshop
“The Parents as Learning Coaches workshop is very practical and the trainers are very friendly! I have learnt to become more aware of my own temper, as well as the importance of spending more time with my kids. This workshop equips parents with practical skills to alter their own behaviour, and teaches parents how to raise responsible and independent children.”
- Mdm Sylvia Lai, participant in the pilot run of Parents as Learning Coaches Workshop

Christmas Under the Stars
Morning Star held its annual community Christmas celebration on 13 Dec 2008. Supportive youth, volunteers, team members and a heartening 221 clients and their family members attended the event.
The evening kicked off with our very own Morning Star workout choreographed by our Student Care children. Laughter and cheers pervaded the atmosphere as people from the field joined in the fun. The pot luck dinner and the free flow of fruit punch came as a much-welcomed relief for all after the workout.
Joyous familiar Christmas tunes filled the air when the young and old joined in the sing-along. Children from our different Student Care Centres then treated all to a wonderfully uplifting dance performance. The evening concluded on a high note when Santa Clause came to visit, with presents for the children of course!
As an endeavor to enhance bonding between families within the community, Morning Star organizes community events quarterly. Look out for our next Connection Under the Stars event happening in March!
