Parent Education in Pre-schools (PEPS)

View photos
Parents nation-wide have been taking advantage of the Parent Education in Pre-schools (PEPS) Programme.

The PEPS programme, an extension of the successful School Family Education (SFE) in Primary, Secondary schools and Junior Colleges, aims to enhance the quality of family life for parents and their pre-school children. Parents learn practical tips on guiding and managing children's behaviour, how to enrich and strengthen their marriages, as well as how to build a strong and happy family. The children in the PEPS schools are taught positive values such as building self-esteem and being money wise.

Morning Star Community Services is proud to be one of the few PEPS service providers approved by MCYS to conduct its training and workshops to schools. If your school is interested for Morning Star to conduct workshops for its parents, please write to us at programs@morningstar.org.sg.

Upcoming Programmes
Parents as Learning Coaches Workshop
This 8-hour workshop provides parents with strategies to: identify a child‘s strengths, types of intelligences and learning styles to maximise learning. Using experiential activities, small group discussion, demonstrations, case studies and personal reflection, parents will also explore creating a conducive home environment for learning and working in partnership with school and community resources. Sign up for our second run coming 16 & 23 August. Find out more

One participant in our pilot run said:

“This workshop is very practical and the trainers are very friendly! I have learnt to become more aware of my own temper, as well as the importance of spending more time with my kids. This workshop equips parents with practical skills to alter their own behaviour, and teaches parents how to raise responsible and independent children.” - Sylvia Lai
My Family Times
Remember to join us for more Family Times in July to whip up treats in an out-of-the-box (kitchen) experience. No worries about those calories though, for on 3 August is the family fitness 3Gen-xercise.

Kampung Nite

View photos
Our Kampung Nite event saw a record attendance of 330 participants on 21 June! Kids and adults were thoroughly enjoying themselves with food stalls such as rojak, ice-balls, kacang puteh, malay kuehs, etc; games stalls such as Cong Kak, Five Stones, Chap Teh, Zero Point, Hopscotch, etc, and of course our ever-popular wide spread of tasty Pot Luck dishes. The little ones swung their hips vigorously in a bid to “out-swing’ their parents during the exciting Hula-Hoop
contest; attempted to kick the most number of times during the Chap Teh segment; and learnt various unique ways of playing Yoyo.

Kampung Nite is part of our series of community events called “Connections Under The Stars’ which is held quarterly. It aims to promote community unity and family bonding, resulting in treasured moments and precious memories.

If you’ve missed our Kampung Nite, fret not! We’ve our Movie Nite coming up next in September. Make sure you register early to avoid disappointment!
